Our phones have become a huge part of our lives. We rely on them to talk, text, surf the web, play games, take pictures, get directions, and so much more. This utility can improve our efficiency at a lot of things, work, keeping in touch, remembering appointments, but not driving! Even if you think of yourself as a great multi-tasker, using your phone while driving, especially to text, takes your attention away from the road. This type of distraction puts you, your passengers and your fellow drivers in danger and it's been proven time and again with fatal accidents and permanent injuries.
Many people don't realize how powerful their car is and how much destruction it can cause. Everyday we hurl ourselves forward at high speeds in metal boxes. We've become so accustomed to driving and maneuvering that we forget the inherent dangers involved. Texting while driving increases this risk exponentially. Recently Oprah Winfrey has thrust her powers of persuasion behind a campaign to end distracted driving. April 30, 2010 was the first national
"No Phone Zone" day and is meant to spread awareness about the dangers of talking and texting while driving.
At Spring Mobile we're in complete support of this campaign and want to spread awareness among our customers and employees. Your text can wait a few more minutes! It's easy to blow off the warnings but as Oprah so pointedly stated, "A call or text isn't worth taking a life."
