Golfshot App

Today is Spring Mobiles "Spring Sand Trap Classic" golf tournament, so with that being said, I thought it would be appropriate to post an app that could be useful on the course. I haven't actually used this app, but from the reviews it seems to be a pretty useful tool. "Golfshot" uses GPS to show you where to aim and how far away the hole is. Once it shows you where to hit the ball, you are then able to track the distance of each shot when you reach the ball. Available on the iPhone and Android Markets.

iPhone app: Translate Spanish to English.

The video below demonstrating this iPhone app basically speaks for itself. Through image recognition, it has the ability to translate text from Spanish to English. Although, it wasn't designed to read books, it may help with short passages, and works best with larger, more clear fonts.

The Magic Men Take Home the Trophy

The 5th annual Spring Mobile Basketball Tournament was a great success! Congrats to the Magic Men of Denver North for taking home the prize that has only been Utah North’s for the past five years! They beat Utah North 48 to 38 in the Championship game this past Thursday at the Huntsman Center. A big thanks to everyone who put this this together and all of the participants.

On a side note, Jon Betts beat Josh Heck in the first annual Market Director Match up, 5 to 3. Jon was helped out by favorable calls from our referee- Dale “Jay” Hambleton.

With NASA retiring its 30 year old space program and Atlantis 33rd and final mission before it is retired to make way for new space explorations. Google Sky Map is a fun app to help you locate various objects in the sky. Google Sky Map turns your mobile phone into a window on the sky allowing you to locate and identify various constellations, planets, stars, and other celestial objects. It uses GPS and will adjust as the user moves the device. There is also the option to browse the skies in manual mode. Download this app for free on the Android Market.

Traveling this weekend?

For all you Fourth of July Weekend travelers this app could be a useful tool when filling up at the pumps. It works like most of the other typical gas price-finding apps, except gas buddy seems to have the most up-to-date prices. You enter your zip code in, and by default the stations list from closest to furthest, but there is the option to sort by price. You can also cycle through the prices for different fuel types (regular, mid-grade, etc.). It also allows you to switch from a list view to a map view, which puts the locations on Google Maps with the price of gas below.
